Acting to transform medical education, Dr. Shad is redesigning the 4-year medical school curriculum to include lifestyle medicine, nutrition and evidence based complementary therapies to prevent disease and maintain health throughout the lifespan.
Working to expand our knowledge, Dr. Shad has undertaken research, published articles and medical textbook chapters on disease prevention, nutrition and complementary and alternative medicine since 1997. He has written two book chapters on Integrative Preventive Medicine in the most recent book of the Weil Integrative Medicine Library.
To expand access to healthy lifestyles and address the social determinants of health, Dr. Shad continues to care for underserved patients who do not have access to health insurance. As part of this effort, he has engaged his medical students, local chefs and community members to conduct group cooking classes where patients with pre-diabetes and diabetes learn how to use food as medicine to treat their condition and stay healthy.
Dr. Shad is currently working on his first full length book with Dr. Richard Carmona for the general public and regularly writes for DRWEIL.COM as a featured expert in the field of Integrative Medicine.
